Steel-string acoustic guitars
are modern forms of guitars that descended from the classical
guitar, but are strung with steel strings that give off a brighter,
louder sound. Basically, the terms steel-stringed guitar, classical
guitar and folk guitar refer to anacoustic (non-electric) guitar,
however some of these terms do refer to different kinds of
instruments, such as nylon-strung vs. steel-strung. Of course, the
term "acoustic guitar" is a retronym, because before the invention
of an electric instrument, all guitars were
"acoustic." |
